In 1.018, I have (finally) changed the output temporary work path to a temp folder, instead of the program files folder. This should allow Vista and Win7 users, to use the GUI without needing it to run with higher privileges. Please note that it hasn't been fully tested, so use carefully.

In the effort to get ffmpeg working with the GUI, 1.016c is now up here. I have also patched the new mplex so that it flushes the stderr (so that the log window can capture it's output). As always, the sourcecode is under the sourcecode page. Let me know what types of results you have with ffmpeg please. If there aren't any problems, I will move 1.016c to the download page. Thanks.

Hello again. With all of the fun around mplex here lately, I have been considering alternative multiplexers. Of course, tcmplex is included with DVDAuthorGUI, but neither mplex or tcmplex have seen much development lately (or at least, anything that I can see). I now have added ffmpeg support as another alternate multiplexer, and have included it into 1.016 here. I am not packaging ffmpeg with DVDAuthorGUI at this point, but all you need to do is drop ffmpeg.exe into the 'bin' directory, and then select it under 'tools'. Please note that 1.016 is only a test release. If there aren't any problems, I will move it to the download page. I will probably end up compiling ffmpeg myself, but for the moment, there are several places to find it, like here. Please let me know everyone's results/opinions with ffmpeg's multiplexing.

Merry Christmas everyone! AVG appears to have served up an early Christmas present. It seems to identify the current 'mplex.exe' packaged with the GUI as a trojan, specifically (PSW.OnlineGames.BJLW). Obviously, this is a false positive, but they don't seem to be fixing the issue in their updates. To help with the situation, I have recompiled mplex, using mingw, hoping that a fresh compile will resolve this. The new build is packaged in 1.015c here. Please let me know if there are any problems with this mplex build (AVG related, or dvd authoring related), and I will update 1.015c in the download page. (update: It seems AVG has corrected the problem, so 1.015b can be used; however, this latest mplex may be a good thing to keep around. I have not been able to find a detailed changelog, except for browsing the CVS repository. If anyone knows of any improvements in the latest mplex, let me know)

Well I'm back. (Sort of). 1.015b is in the download page. I had some time today to fix a few bugs that users have been emailing me from time to time. Also, be sure to check out the links page, as I have updated it with some site for free motion backgrounds (useful for dvd menus).

1.012b is now in the download area. Also, check out the latest sample project that was sent to me. It is a small shell game written by Daniel Bienvenu. This project demonstrates some of the possibilities with VM commands.

I was contacted earlier this week of a user trying to use DVDAuthorGUI on Vista, but was having difficulty with it working. Since I do not own or have access to Vista, it makes testing on it very difficult. So I throw this question out to you.. If you have Vista, are you able to use DVDAuthorGUI? Please let me know what your experiences have been. Until I am able to get Vista, or have someone donate it to me (hint, hint), there will be limited support for that OS.

I have a new page up, dedicated to sample/example projects. If you would like to contribute, let me know. http://download.videohelp.com/liquid217/dvdauthorgui.pl?p=samples

DVDAuthorGUI 1.010 is out. The only major change is the new dvdauthor compile, version 0.6.12. Refer to its changelog for more information. It seems to test out fine with me; however, I have left the old binaries in the package. If problems arise, simply run the batch file in the 'bin' folder to re-load the old binaries. I have uploaded a sample project that demonstates the ability to randomly jump to a title. If it is of any use to you, let me know. I may start a project collecting small projects like this. If you have anything you would like to contribute, let me know. You can download the sample project here.

DVDAuthorGUI 1.009 beta is out. The only major addition is the 'alternate preview' option. By using DGIndex/DGDecode, the visual chapter editor, along with the button editor, should be as accurate as possible. This new feature can be enabled under tools. Please email me with any problems in this new release.
